The Gear to Get You Going:
1. KITE
The reason it’s called kite-boarding - This is what pulls the rider along. Different types include bow, hybrid, SLE and C kite, as well as the foil kite, mostly used for snow.

2. BOARD
The other half of kiteboarding types include freestyle, wake style, surf style, skim, twin-tip and light wind.

3. FOOT STRAPS
Secure the rider’s feet onto the board. Stance can vary depending on the rider’s style.

4. HARNESS
Connects the rider to the kite and allows the body of weight to help hold down the power of the kite.

5. CONTROL BAR
The bar used to control the kite. Length varies from 18 to 24 inches, based on personal preference and kite sizes.

6. BAR THROW
The area in which the bar controls the power of the kite. Basically, pulling the bar in gives full power and pushing it away spills the power.
7. KITE LINES
Amazingly strong, the lines that control the kite must be well maintained. They range from 10 meters to 30 meters long, and different line lengths can change the performance, power and speed of the kite.

8. SAFETY RELEASE
If all else fails, triggering the safety release will completely disconnect the rider from the kite.
9. HELMET
